The Inn has a rich historic
legacy: President Hoover visited on two occasions, once while in office and again to
dedicate the Hoover Dike which surrounded nearby Lake Okeechobee. During World War II
British and American Air Force Cadets who were training nearby
met at the Inn to socialize, sing,
and play the piano.
