unspoiled backwaters. Or,
take a guided eco/historic
trip. (reservations required).

The guide will point out
battlefield
sites, Seminole settlements and
the old military road leading from
Fort Jupiter to Lake Okeechobee.
Some of the area's leading archae-
ologists conduct the guided tours.

Trip # 1
Riverbend Park to Jonathan
Dickson Park.
- 5 to 6 hours paddling (includes
picnic time)
- Approximately 8 miles long
- Pass Trapper Nelson's
- Trip requires moderate effort
- May require pulling canoe over
fallen trees.
- Begin trip by 11:00 A.M.
- Return Transportation |

rooms available at Trapper Nelson's
site, (interpretive tours available
by park ranger).

Explore the pristine Loxahatchee
River, Florida's only federally
designated " Wild and
Scenic River ".

Visiting the Loxahatchee River is visiting
1800's Florida. On the
guided trips you will learn history,
see wildlife, and put names to
plants along the shore.

In the "Wild and Scenic" section of
the river you will observe native wildlife and become familiar with
the tropical and subtropical
vegetation. Also, great birding opportunities abound along
the Loxahatchee.

Trip # 2
Begin and end in
Riverbend Park.
- For each hour downriver allow,
allow 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- Approximately 2 hours paddling
time, round trip to Masten Dam.
- Numerous birds, river otters,
and perhaps an alligator.
- Tropical and subtropical
vegetation.
- May require pulling canoe over
fallen trees.
- Begin trip before 2:00 P.M. |
