Here in Pirate’s Cove, later known
as White Sulfur Springs and, since
1866, Green Cove Springs, the
Saratoga of the South and former
home of the "Mothball Fleet" you
can discover the river that runs
north. Majestically flowing to the
Atlantic Ocean, the St. Johns River
is about three miles across where
it brushes the lush riverfront park
in Green Cove Springs.

the first week in April is the Clay
County Agricultural Fair. May
brings the Rodeo and Riverfest
happens in the Park on Memorial
Day. South of town on SR 16, the
Bayard Conservation Area, with
7 miles of river frontage, offers
almost 10,000 acres for wildlife
viewing, hiking, bicycling
and primitive camping.
