The Butterfly Experience

    ~Unfold Your Creative Talents

October 12 – 14, 2007

 Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the world and enjoy a weekend immersing yourself into the creative beauty of the butterfly through this garden/art/introspective weekend retreat.

 The workshop begins on Friday night and runs through Sunday afternoon October 12 – 14 2007 at O’Toole’s Herb Farm located in Historic Madison, Florida.

 Schedule of Events:

 Friday October 12, 2007 (7pm- 8:30pm)

 Prepare for the “unfolding”……..

 Session: Creative Visualization and Relaxation (or breaking free from the chrysalis)

The evening begins with light refreshments and a motivational session to get you relaxed and your creative juices flowing. Motivational speaker and hypnotherapist, Khrys Kantarze will start the evening taking you on an inward journey to leave your stresses and cares behind. The casual atmosphere and Khrys’ humorous style are sure to facilitate the start of a fantastic, relaxing weekend of nature, art, food and fellowship! 

 

Saturday October 13, 2007 (8:45am-4:30pm)

 

Seminar: Creative Visualization and Relaxation Workshop 8:45am-10:00am

The day begins with a guided visualization and relaxation workshop.  You will be able to recline and de-stress as Khrys gently guides your imagination to relax and remember the creative gifts you were born with.

 

 

 

Garden Tour and Garden Design                         10:15am-12:15pm

Enjoy a morning walk through O’Toole’s herb garden guided by herbalist and garden design artist, Ms. ‘B’ O’Toole.

Part 1: Learn which plants attract birds and butterflies and which location in your garden the plants would thrive.

Part 2: ‘B’ will help you design and plan your own garden space, specific to your yard location to attract the ‘3’ ‘B’s --- butterflies, birds and bees.

Lunch                                                       12:30pm-2pm

A gourmet lunch will be provided by Judy Pruitt, herbal chef. An extended lunch break gives you the opportunity to wander the gardens, gift shops and greenhouses of O’Toole’s or just relax under a tree or sitting in the garden. Bring your camera and photograph the beautiful garden.

 Window Painting Workshop                               2:00pm-4:30pm

Make your Butterfly a reality! With the guidance of Janet Moses, award winning folk artist, you will paint your own butterfly on an antique window. Photos from the garden will be available for inspiration to help you create your one of a kind treasure.

 Break                                                      4:30pm-5:30pm

 

Dinner and Shopping                                      5:30pm-8:30ish

We’ll all meet for a special reserved gourmet dinner at the 111 Grill located in historic downtown Madison. After dinner we’ll wander historic downtown where selected area art and antique shops will be open for an exclusive private shopping opportunity.

 

Sunday October 14,2007 (9am-2pm)

 Garden Tin Workshop                                     9:00am-11:00am

Begin the morning with Janet learning to create your own garden tin. Paint a flower or an herb or anything that inspires you on an antique piece of tin. The art you create will be weather proof to take home and display in your own backyard. Feel free to bring a favorite saying or quote to incorporate into your work.

 Weed walk and Lunch with Judy                        11:00am-12:45pm

Join master gardener and herbal chef, Ms. Judy Pruitt for a walk about the farm where you’ll learn which native plants are edible. Judy will lead you in selecting herbs and edible weeds to incorporate into the noon meal. When you return from your walk you’ll join in preparing delicious recipes using the plants harvested from around the farm. Walk away with the know-how and recipes to enjoy for years to come.

 Pulling It All Together:  “Be” the Butterfly       12:45pm-2:00pm

Khrys will teach you skills and practices you can take away with you that help you to recreate the feelings of relaxation and creativity you have experienced during the weekend.  The inspiration of the weekend will not end when you leave!

Khrys Kantarze, MA, CHC

Khrys combines her love of people, gift of teaching, knowledge of the intuitive and subconscious mind with a sense of humor to create unique learning experiences for her clients and audiences. Her background as a successful healthcare/human resource executive, combined with a Masters Degree in Spiritual Healing and certification in hypnotherapy, give her a unique combination of talents to help you identify and achieve your goals.

 

Janet Moses, Florida Folk Artist

Janet is an award winning folk artist and business owner, specializing in primitive art, for over 25 years. Her work has been displayed at national art shows and been given to two of our nations past presidents. During her career as an art instructor and artist, she has taught numerous workshops to both skilled and aspiring artists. Her easy-going, hands-on approach makes learning to express your creative instinct a fun and rewarding experience. You will walk away from Janet’s workshops with a piece of art you can be proud of in addition to having the opportunity to work with a living Florida treasure!

 

Elizabeth Fraleigh O’Toole (‘B’), Owner O’Toole’s Herb Farm

‘B’ has been into landscape design since the 1960’s; she received her Bachelor of Arts from FSU as one of the first women to graduate with a degree in design. ‘B’s passion for gardening combined with her education, experience and love of people make learning from her a pure delight! She and her husband Jim started O’Toole’s Herb Farm in 1990. The farm and the love of gardening have been in ‘B’s family since the 1840’s. Their mission statement says it all: “to provide quality Certified Organic Plants and Products with Educational Support in a Peaceful, Inspiring Atmosphere---being Stewards of the Earth and our Souls.”

 

Judy Pruitt, Herbal Chef, Master Gardener

Judy has always loved plants, cooking and learning about herbs.  She combines this love to create delectable treats made with wild and cultivated herbs. Judy has won numerous awards for her herbal jellies, vinegars and preserves. Many of her recipes have been published in “Southern Living” magazine. Judy shares her passions through workshops, cooking and gardening classes. She places a unique touch on each presentation and meal immersing you in a complete garden and “wild” experience!
