Primary occupation of the site
probably occurred during the
early Weeden Island Period
( 1000-1700) years ago. More
than 50 of these sites are in
Florida mainly on the Gulf Coast

town of Monticello, about on
Old Route 90 you can see one
the tallest Indian Mounds
in Florida at more than
40 feet high. (below)

Mound sites were usually only
temporary and such sites would
be abandoned or simply be 
abandoned with the death
of the leader.
